City-Hop: 12 Last Day in Chicago
Intro
Initially, Tanner was going
to come into Chicago to
hang out with me for the day.
But a mechanical issue
arose and he
regretfully couldn't
make it.
I mean, he was extremely
apologetic.
Poor Tanner.
Morning
It was a pretty
easy morning where
I got up around
7 a.m. and packed
so I wouldn't have to
stress about it that night.
Adler Planetarium
With a bus and a train,
I made it to the planetarium.
It was $19.
I don't see any benefit
in getting them online,
but that is an option.
I elected not to see the shows
and I'm glad I did that because
there was so much to see
without them!
When I first started
walking through, I
thought maybe it wasn't
even worth the $19. But
then I saw how big it was
and diverse in information
and museum items. It was
definitely a good choice to
go there!
I went on a Monday
around lunch time, which
was apparently school
trip time for the little ones.
But it didn't matter.
One display was of
rays. Two people stuck
there hands a tube and
something was supposed
to happen. A little
boy and girl did that
and waited... but nothing
happened! Their adult
said, "Well, I guess there's
no electricity between
you two."
I couldn't stop laughing!
The museum, itself,
has an amazing view of the
water and cityscape.
Even in the cafeteria, though
not much opportunity for
pictures.
Speaking of, unless
you're in a pinch for time,
I would NOT recommend
eating there. It smelled
good but I got the special
and it was lackluster at best.
The chicken po boy was
in a foot long, kind of hard
sub with lettuce, tomatoes,
chicken, and (spicy?) mayo.
The chicken and mayo
were great, though. And it was
about $9, no drink or
chips. I had my water
bottle on me.
Just outside the museum
is a little trail that leads
to a tiny beach.
It was secluded, but
Google reviews suggests
it can get pretty packed.
Maybe that's the benefit of
getting tickets ahead.
Maybe sometimes, there
are long lines?
But you'd still need
the wristband...
I just don't know.
Open Books
Next, I went to a
resale bookstore.
The streets were less
frantic than around
what I assume was the
main downtown area.
And then I made it back.
Outro
It was mostly an
easy, simple day for
my last day in Chicago.
If it weren't for
my anxiety kicking in
I would've done a lot
more. But slow days
can be nice days!
