Case Study for Nonprofit Ad Campaign

Recycle Bank is all about helping and encouraging people to recycle.

This conceptual ad campaign reaches out to people in a fun way, encouraging audiences of all ages to pay a little closer attention to how they treat the world around them.

There are different parts of this campaign: A commercial, a billboard, a magazine ad, and a bus stop poster. Don't worry!! All origami items were safely recycled. The initial concept of this ad included a paper duck in the water. That didn't go well. Although, looking back, I suppose I could've used mod podge or something.

Commercial

Details on creating the commercial is on a previous post. Essentially, I created an origami fish, photographed it, placed it inside After Effects, and made it move. I also overlaid it with a stock video of fish. I created the bubbles, the water movement, light shining through, the movement of the fish and overlay of it, all in Adobe After Effects. This was the both the most difficult part of the campaign and the most fun!!fish. I created the bubbles, the water movement, light shining through, the movement of the fish and overlay of it, all in Adobe After Effects. This was the both the most difficult part of the campaign and the most fun!

Billboard

Recycle Billboard layout
The design of the conceptual campaign ad for RecycleBank

For this idea, I created an origami squirrel out of a paper bag and took photos of him in a local park. The idea: It shows the viewer the nearest place to a recycle bin while encouraging them not to litter.

Magazine Ad

For the magazine ad concept, I took a pink paper receipt and created a butterfly origami with it. Then, I placed the butterfly on a bed of flowers. The resulting image is the underlay to the recycle symbol.

Poster

And finally: The poster. This ad goes hand-in-hand with the magazine concept. Instead of a paper butterfly, it is, ironically, a bird created from a cardboard paper ad sent through the mail. With this poster being larger, I created a hint of subtly while allowing the details to be clear when closely inspected.
