Veils and Bow Ties
Doing wedding photography can be very stressful, which is why I don't do it. This is my second time, and completely unplanned. I had my camera on me because I was coming back from my Ireland trip and thought I would take some simple wedding photos as a guest. But they quickly accepted me as a photographer and even posed for some shots! And it wasn't stressful, it was fun. Lots of fun.
Although my gear was really for light-weight travel photography, the lighting was nice for this. I kept my settings on automatic, since it was 'click-click-click' trying to get those unplanned shots in, and the lighting was constantly changing. Inside, out, sunny, golden hour, blue hour, shading. I quickly gave up trying to flip through my settings and just hoped for the best. The downside in this, is my lens focused on what it wanted to focus on. I'll need to explore my camera a bit more to see if I can figure out how to control that part without going in manual mode.
I kept the editing pretty simple. Sometimes I added a vintage effect to it. Most of it was done in Lightroom. I quickly became very relieved for the "copy settings." Just like camera settings, editing the photos changed from spot/lighting to spot/lighting. So the white balance, exposure, and contrast kept needing to be adjusted. Having that 'copy' option in Lightroom was extremely helpful.
Overall, I ended up with over 600 images. I edited 106 based off what I thought was usable and what my aunt wanted, plus a few friends and family shots.
This was a beautiful wedding and a fun couple. My cousin and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lucas!
