Day 5: High Angle

Houston, TX from the Wells Fargo Plaza.

I'm not too crazy about the high angle perspective.  Or about this photo, but hey, I did the challenge!  What in the world is going on the bottom right corner..?

Now a little rant about Houston (I had a great day, there's just three paragraphs I want to get to more to remind myself later).

I live about 1.5 hours away from downtown Houston.  I rarely make the trip there, but I used to go all the time.  Now I'm remembering why I stopped.  Parking is ridiculous.  Street parking is alright, but it's better to find a street that isn't too busy.  This means a little bit of a walk, but worth it in my opinion.  I had walked to the Discovery Green park (where both kids and stoners hung out, apparently... no wonder kids are so known for their imaginations... hehe just kidding), took some shots, then walked to the plaza.  It was completely unplanned, so I was shocked to find out I needed to walk about half an hour back to my car.  Not a big deal, just didn't realize I had walked so far.

There was SO MUCH CONSTRUCTION!  Many of the lights are to the side, so I almost ran into someone, and the red lights really blend in with everything.  They could do better with that.  Also, there were constantly blinking lights (fire truck, police, etc) and whistling everywhere.  There was a man blowing a whistle to let walkers know it was safe to walk past a parking lot... even though there were absolutely no cars.  Why?  Why the whistle??

I also couldn't figure out where to eat.  All the places either looked closed or not so welcoming or I just couldn't find the entrance.  I blame myself for this confusion, someone else may have had much better luck than me.  That was just my experience.

I wonder why it's always the men that are so friendly...  Even when I was stopped and focused completely on my phone, a man said hello to me.  Don't get me wrong, I realize it's possible they were being flirty, but I'm positive not all of them were.  I'm positive because one of them was definitely not into women.  There was one guy, the most interesting, who called himself Jay because his name isn't common around here.  He was high on something.  He had a tattoo of a dollar sign where tear drops usually are and told me the story of his cousin placing it on him when he was passed out drunk (or something).  He wanted the New Orleans Saints logo behind his left ear, so he woke up to quite a surprise.  I know he complimented me, but I have no idea what it was.  He was mumbling and swaying side to side, so it was hard to catch some of the things he said.  But he waited for a response and looked at me.  I said thank you and he nodded saying something like "Don't forget that." or something along those lines that confirmed my suspicions of there being a compliment somewhere in there.  Anyways, he was blazed and a total sweetheart.  Even had me laughing.

I did get shots for tomorrow's challenge, but I'll edit and post them tomorrow.  I'm now tired and exhausted!  And that is not a complaint!  Today was great day.
